This report, contained on a portable hard drive, includes approximately 23,000 scanned documents from the NBMG Mining District File Collection in PDF file format. The disk also includes an index to the collection with a JavaScript search engine. This application requires Internet Explorer, Firefox, or other browser with JavaScript enabled. To view the scanned images, you must have Adobe Reader or other software that will open a PDF file. The disk is USB 2 compatible and includes cable.

The NBMG mining district files consist largely of historical and current maps, reports, articles, photographs, correspondence, assays, production reports, and reserve information on all aspects of mining in Nevada. Most have been donated to NBMG over the years from individuals, companies, and other government agencies. Over the last several years, NBMG has undertaken digital conversion of these paper documents to scanned images.

A variety of other statewide maps, reports, and GIS data that provide additional background information on Nevada’s mineral and energy resources are also included on the disk. Some of the background materials include older NBMG bulletins that describe Nevada’s mining districts; oil and gas well exploration data, logs, and production records; digital copies of 1:100,000-scale USGS topographic maps covering the state; map of mineral and energy producers in the state; the 2008 Nevada mineral industry review; and other mineral-, energy-, and mining-related documents and data sets.

The digital file conversion project at NBMG is ongoing. If you have questions about this project, contact Ron Hess at (775) 784-6692 or via e-mail at rhess@unr.edu.
