A message from Dr. Jim Faulds, NBMG Director and State Geologist: “We are very pleased to welcome a very talented new staff member to NBMG—Christina Clack.”
Christina Clack joined the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology as a Graphic Designer in the Cartography/GIS office in August. Christina moved to Reno, Nevada in 2009 and started working for the University of Nevada, Reno in 2010 as an administrative assistant in the Office of Undergraduate and Interdisciplinary Research. Christina has been involved in many aspects of communications with the University. From event planning of research conferences to graphic design of research publications and outreach materials to website design and maintenance for multiple programs and departments.
In 2015, she decided to enroll at the University to complete her bachelor’s degree in Journalism with an emphasis in visual communication in 2017 to expand upon her self-taught expertise and branch out into new communication skillsets including video production, podcasting and data visualization.
Christina has also worked as a communications specialist on environmental research grants within the Physics department, as graphic design intern at The Abbi Agency, as a freelance communications consultant for local and international nonprofit organizations and businesses, and most recently as a desktop publisher for the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension.
Christina is excited to offer her design and communications expertise to NBMG to help expand the Bureau’s presence and publication offerings. She also looks forward to growing her technical expertise by learning new avenues of communications within GIS and of course finding interesting places in Nevada to explore. When not working, you can find her hanging with her two young children and husband adventuring in the outdoors, camping, rockhounding, crafting, reading, or planning their next adventure.
Christina jumped right in when she began working for the Bureau in August and completed this year’s wonderful Nevada Geology Calendar 2021.
