The dates for Nevada Mineral Exploration Coalition’s (NMEC’s) 2021 Great Basin Rendezvous (GBR) are right around the corner – September 10th through 12th! The GBR will be hosted by NMEC at the Royal Peacock Opal Mine in the beautiful Virgin Valley adjacent to the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge south and west of Denio, Nevada.
The Sloan NE 7.5-minute quadrangle is located just south of Las Vegas, NV and includes housing developments in the City of Henderson, as well as a large part of the Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area. The map area straddles the crest of the northern McCullough Range including Black Mountain, the highest peak in the range. This ridgeline is part of the northwestern segment of the drainage divide between the hydrologically closed Eldorado Valley and Las Vegas Valley, which is part of the Colorado River watershed.
The Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology (NBMG) carried out its biennial online survey of companies exploring for new metal, industrial mineral, geothermal, and hydrocarbon resources in Nevada. The Nevada Commission on Mineral Resources and the Nevada Division of Minerals supported the survey.
